Cadillac left its home race at the Circuit of The Americas without points. Sergio Pérez finished 19th, one lap down, and Valtteri Bottas retired after 48 laps, according to the official result. The team remains on zero points in the constructors' standings. Team principal Marcin Budkowski would not confirm whether Pérez and Bottas have contracts for 2027, Motorsport Week reported.

The weekend

American driver Colton Herta drove Pérez's car in the first practice session and finished 21st, the team said in its Friday report. "My first Formula 1 outing in my home country in front of all the American fans was a very special moment," Herta said. Bottas was 20th in that session and 19th in the second, while Pérez was 21st in the second session.

In the race, Bottas pulled off the track late on, which brought out a Virtual Safety Car, the Formula 1 race report says.

The 2027 question

Asked about contracts for next season, Budkowski said, "this is the last place I would comment on driver contracts," adding that any news "will be done by official releases from the team when the time is right," according to Motorsport Week.

He also said that "pretty much all" drivers on the market had been in touch, without naming anyone, when asked about Esteban Ocon, who leaves Haas at the end of the season. And he pushed back on talk that Pérez is close to retirement: "he doesn't behave or drive like a driver who is anywhere close to retirement."

Grid and Pit has not seen any official Cadillac announcement on its 2027 drivers. We will update this story when the team confirms its lineup. For the wider picture, see our 2027 driver market tracker.
